The plans to restore and enhance the area, located on the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, were showcased to the public at a consultation event in May, with the proposals subsequently available to view online. The response to the plans has been positive, and the submitted application has been informed by the feedback received by members of the public and community groups.
FIREM’s plans for the Belper Mills complex are focussed around maximising the site’s cultural heritage while increasing its attractiveness to visitors and creating new business opportunities to stimulate the local economy.
