FI Real Estate Management Ltd is one of the UKs largest commercial property companies with individual Asset Management, Property Management, Facilities Management and Projects teams.

As a forward-thinking dynamic Facilities Management business, we are looking for a Procurement Manager, to implement and oversee company sourcing capabilities whilst managing all operational aspects of supply chain.

Your responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing daily purchasing activities. As the Purchasing Manager, you are responsible for the sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of equipment, goods, and services to meet the company’s operational requirements.

You will be working with an annual spend of c £4 million. The focus will be on sourcing suppliers for a variety of services eg Hard and soft services, PPM, HVAC maintenance contracts, Lift maintenance etc (rather than going to single source suppliers such as Mitie).

  • The successful Procurement Manager will need a hands-on approach whilst managing the workload of other team members (initially the role will be stand alone with future admin support – aim to expand the procurement team if required)
  • You will be expected to work in line with the business Quality Management System with a focus on continuous improvement of the company and our buildings.
  • Develop, implement, and continually improve purchasing strategies.
  • Managing supplier relations and maintain the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Manage ERP system purchase requirements for live projects; to coordinate inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Look at forming supplier frameworks
  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Run tenders, evaluate bids, and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
  • Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided
  • Manage and monitor status of all live purchase orders and provide expediting assistance to the team
  • Provide updates to key stakeholders on all procurement activities
  • Training new employees and junior team members in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.
  • Develop strategies to ensure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are achieved
  • Manage supplier communications in relation to non-conforming goods

What experience is essential?

  • Experience of working as a purchasing /procurement supervisor/manager,
  • FM industry background
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supplier chain management
  • Experience of managing bids and tenders
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and have a good knowledge of material specification and components
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Full current driving license

What is desirable?

  • Ideally worked within a facilities and construction environment as the focus will be on facilities management contracts.
  • Understanding of BOMs for project management and costing analysis
  • Basic understanding of Hard FM and Soft FM services.
  • Knowledge of Yardi would be desirable

Qualifications needed

Hold an industry recognised purchasing qualification i.e. CIPS qualified level 4/5 or similar qualification
