With an oversupply of retail space in The Brunel shopping centre, FI employed a new investment strategy to meet consumer demand, drive footfall to the centre and increase dwell time. A £6m investment saw the creation of The Crossing, a 20,000 sq ft, 200 seater food hub on the first floor of the upper mall. The bold move has resulted in widening the retail appeal of the centre, with it now having an annual footfall of 23.5m, which has helped to attract and secure new tenants.
The Crossing now boasts a mix of independent restaurants, cafes and high street eateries such as Chopstix Noodle Bar, Subway, as well local independent food retailers including Triple Two Coffee and Eggelicious.
